Social Media News: The Best Platform Updates of the Month

This entry was posted in News on .

It’s #StressAwarenessMonth and we get it. It’s stressful to take the time to sit down and read about all the latest trends and updates, especially with algorithms changing on a daily.

Just like scheduling self-care, it can be difficult, but it’s necessary. We are here to make it easier. Here are all the latest social media updates that you need to know about to improve your social media strategy.

First up, Instagram.

Instagram Launches New Creator Lab & Tags

No gatekeeping here. Instagram stars are sharing channel growth tips, monetization, safety notes, and more.

Humans love humans. Therefore, having these helpful strategies come from successful creators themselves makes all the difference. #credible

Notice all the @ handles in the description boxes. Instagram has stepped up to the plate with a new crediting creators initiative: Enhanced Creator Tags

Instagram stated: “This is especially crucial for marginalized and underrepresented creators and collaborators whose contributions are often behind the scenes. Today, we’re launching enhanced tags on Instagram to make it easier for creators to receive credit for their work.”

Another new tag feature is for products. As part of its ongoing focus on growing its eCommerce tools, Instagram is now allowing all users to tag products in their posts, starting with users in the US. Business owners will receive a notification when a user tags one of their products.

TikTok Stories and 10-Minute Long Videos

TikTok is expanding a pilot test that allows its users to post stories, like those you see on Snapchat or Instagram. However, something that it’s missing is the scrolling bar of stories from accounts you follow. However, the company was experimenting with a pop-over vertical window that would serve a similar purpose.

Another new feature that TikTok revealed is that users will be able to upload videos up to 10 minutes long. These features are not yet available to all, but here’s something for both brands and creators.

TikTok released an infographic from a study conducted from hundreds of brands on their content.

Tweet Awards & More Ecommerce Feature

TikTok has live gifts, Reddit has various gifting options, Facebook has virtual gifts, and YouTube similarly has its own Super Stickers. Now, it’s Twitter’s turn.

Gifting options offer creators a way to make an income with their content.

Thus, introducing Tweet Awards.

All that’s been revealed so far is this tweet:

Twitter says, “We’re always looking into new ways for people to engage with others on Twitter and don’t have further information to share at this time.”

Another Twitter test that’s big news to the creator marketing industry is Twitter Shops.

To make shopping easier than ever on Twitter, Twitter Shops is a tool to join the others on the platform: the Shop Module, Live Shopping, and our Shopping Manager. Unlike the others, with Twitter Shops, merchants can handpick a collection of up to 50 products to showcase to shoppers.

This feature is free to use and gives people the chance to view products from the profiles of their favorite brands. If users wish to purchase, they can do so through a link to the merchants’ website.
