How Brands Can Amplify Black Voices All Year Round

This entry was posted in News on .

Happy Black History Month!

February is a month set aside to recognize and appreciate Black leaders and entrepreneurs that have helped shape the world we live in.

But we don’t plan on stopping when February is over. We want to celebrate and amplify Black voices all year long.

A recent report uncovered that the pay gap between white and Black influencers is 35%, highlighting a lack of diversity in the marketing industry.

As a result, brands have stated that they are consciously making the decision to include more Black people in their campaigns. However, incorporating diverse, intersectional creators should not be an afterthought to your marketing campaign.

Consumers not only appreciate these efforts, but they also notice when you are not doing it. The general market is multicultural, and your content should reflect that.

Here at Open Influence we love witnessing the influence of Black creators on the content landscape. We are delighted with their talents and believe in the enormous contributions they make to the community.

In one of our latest campaigns, we partnered with Target, YouTube, and digital storyteller, Hallease, to create a series of five videos called “Conversations with CEOs.”

The series featured the unique stories of the Black entrepreneurs behind products sold in Targets. Each YouTube video featured an interview with the founders of brands like Black Girl Sunscreen, Beauty Bakerie, Bellen’s More Than Peach, and more (Read: Open Influence is a “Creative Media Awards” Winner for the Multicultural/LGBT Category).

To continue the celebration we want to shine the spotlight on Black creators who are delighting and inspiring audiences with their content!
