Social Media Platform Updates
TikTok
New Ad Solutions Unveiled
TikTok introduced several new “high-impact” ad solutions at its IAB NewFronts presentation.
Premium ad format Logo Takeover allows advertisers to co-brand with TikTok and make a first impression when users open the application.
Sequential ad format Prime Time lets brands show a series of ads at specific times, such as during tentpole moments, live events, or periods of high engagement. Up to three ads are delivered within a designated 15-minute window.
The platform combined its TopView and TopFeed high-visibility placements with TopReach, a single buy aimed at maximizing advertisers’ reach by giving them the first spot users see when they open the app (TopView) and the first in-feed ad spot in For You (TopFeed).
Finally, Pulse Mentions and Pulse Tastemakers were added to the TikTok Pulse suite.
Pulse Moments places brands’ ads adjacent to moments when people are already talking about them and their category, while Pulse Tastemakers enables them to align their ads with their choice of eligible creators.
Enforcement Updates
TikTok is targeting repeat offenders with its updated system for account enforcement.
The company said creators found its system confusing to navigate, particularly those who unknowingly committed violations, adding that repeat offenders tend to follow patterns that make them easier to track.
Under the new system, a user who posts content that violates TikTok’s community guidelines will be issued a strike when the content is removed, and if that user reaches the threshold of strikes for a specific feature or policy, which differ, they will be permanently banned. Strikes expire after 90 days.
New features will be added to the app’s Safety Center, including an Account Status page where users can view the standing of their account, and a Report Records page where they can see the status of reports they filed about other accounts.
Finally, creators will be notified if they are on the verge of having their account permanently removed.
Other TikTok News
- The company revealed The Discover List 2026, its annual list of 50 creators to watch from across the globe in five categories: Educators, Foodies, Icons, Innovators, and Originators.
- Music discovery experience Play Full Song lets Apple Music users play full-length tracks that they discover on TikTok.

Reeling In Shoppers
Instagram is giving creators more ways to make their Reels shoppable.

Before sharing a Reel, creators will see an Add Product option in the Share sheet, where they can paste product URLs, including affiliate links, to specific items, or search and tag a product from a brand’s catalog.
Products must be part of the business’ existing commerce catalog on Meta.
Up to 30 individual items (not collections) can be added to a single Reel, and viewers can tap to shop and go directly to the seller’s app or mobile site to complete the transaction.
Content with product tags will also appear in Partnership Ads Hub, helping boost the creator’s visibility to brands.
Next up, according to Instagram, will be new affiliate opportunities with Amazon and Shopee directly within the platform.

Meta is testing a new AI experience that allows people to see more of the information they need to make a purchase after clicking an ad or visiting a website from Facebook or Instagram, surfacing reviews, brand details, discounts, and product recommendations.
When the purchase decision is final, a new checkout experience helps users complete the process with a single tap, starting with PayPal and Stripe, with Adyen and Shopify to be added soon.
