People told Jairo Orozco his whole life that he was funny and should do something about it. One day he did. He went online, started messing around, and history wrote itself — his words, and accurate ones.
MexicanGueys is now a full comedy platform built on Latino culture, family humor, and the kind of sketches that someone’s mom watches from a hospital bed because she needs to laugh. Jairo found out that last part from a fan. It reframed everything.
How did your creator journey begin?
People always told me growing up — you’re pretty funny, you should do something about it. One day I just said, you know what, let me mess around online. From there, history wrote itself.
What is your go-to ritual after posting?
I like being surprised at the end of the day. I shut my phone off for about 15 to 20 minutes — I’m not sitting there staring at my screen counting likes. I did what I had to do for the day. Let me move on to the next project.
What advice would you give yourself when you were just getting started?
I wish I could go back and say — you’re going to change the way people think about you. You’re going to change their day. I didn’t know I was making that impact. When someone told me their mom was sick in the hospital and my content was making her laugh — instead of making it a hobby, I wish I could have told myself: make this now to entertain people. You’re healing them through your comedy.
