RECAP: Pitti Uomo 2015

This entry was posted in News on .

Each year the fashion set descends upon Florence, Italy, for the menswear mecca known as Pitti Uomo.  Aside from being a destination to potentially get snapped by street-style gods, it’s a business destination. Pitti Uomo is a trade show in Florence, Italy that’s been around since 1972. It’s a four-day market-facing event where retailers, buyers, and editors come together to view upcoming collections. Most importantly, brands congregate under one roof to display a full season for retail buyers, who select the styles and quantities they wish to carry in their respective storefronts.

This is the moment when retailers decide what they’re going to eventually sell to you, the customer. Once these orders are confirmed, the brands spend the next few months feverishly fulfilling the correct quantity and they eventually make their way onto the shelves of your favorite stores. Not to be confused with the runway-show-filled fashion weeks, Pitti is all about the one-on-one interaction between the brand and the buyer.

However, much like fashion week,  Pitti Uomo has become so much more than just a wholesale marketplace. At this point, it’s a destination for menswear fanatics and influencers to gather as a community. From sponge bow ties to furry Birkenstocks, InstaBrand was on-site connecting with some of our existing clients and forging new business relationships.
