YouTube is testing a new feature called “Reels.” The new feature available in the Community tab is a spin on the popular “stories” format.
Creators will be able to record 30-second video clips and get creative with filters, music, text, stickers, and other design tools.
Even though YouTube’s announcement proves this short-video format is here to stay, there is a big difference between this feature and the once we know. It won’t be ephemeral.
“We learned that you want the flexibility to create multiple Reels and have them not expire, so we’ll give you those options,” Roy Livne, Senior Product Manager, wrote in a blog post announcing the new features.
“Reels,” currently in beta version will become available to more creators as they test and improve the product.
