Social media platforms are continuously evolving to meet the needs of advertisers, creators, and their user base.

The following is a look at 10 key updates from the various platforms that were introduced in the first half of 2026 and how they impact the creator marketing ecosystem.

TikTok Branded Buzz

Branded Buzz, introduced at the sixth annual TikTok World product summit, gives brands and creators a way to kick their campaigns into overdrive by fostering authentic, organic conversations.

The new solution provides tools for brands and creators seeking to amplify key moments by quickly generating hundreds of videos, leading to organic conversations that generate buzz and amplify brand awareness.

TikTok also added Creator AI Search to its TikTok One creative command center. The new creator discovery tool uses artificial intelligence to analyze campaign briefs and creator profiles on the platform, giving brands a curated list of creators to choose from.

Shopping Is a Reels Deal

Consumers have become more and more reliant on social platforms, particularly content from creators, when it comes to making purchase decisions, and those platforms continue to remove friction between the browsing part of the experience and actually completing the transaction.

Instagram took a major step down this path by enabling brands and creators to easily make their short-form Reels videos shoppable,

Businesses in 22 countries can now share their product catalogs with creators, who, in turn, can add up to 30 of those products into a single Reel, providing potential buyers with details on pricing and availability, and letting them easily finalize the purchase through the seller’s mobile site or application.

Affiliate links are also supported, giving creators an additional monetization opportunity.

Keeping It Local

Location is everything, particularly when it comes to businesses and services in the immediate area. Recognizing this, TikTok introduced a way for brands and creators to reach nearby users: Local Feed.

A new tab on the app’s home screen brings users content related to local events, restaurants, shopping, and travel, as well as content from nearby businesses and creators.

The feed is curated by location, topic of content, and time the content was posted.

Users have the option of sharing more accurate location information with the app so that their Local Feed delivers relevant content.

Creator Shows

As the lines continue to blur between platforms like YouTube and “traditional” television, the Google-owned video platform announced several new Creator Shows at its Brandcast 2026 event.

Creator Shows are high-budget, episodic efforts along the lines of TV series, and creators joining the fray or adding to their efforts this year and in 2027 include: Cleo Abram, Hope Allen, Julian Shapiro-Barnum, Quentin Blackwell, Michael Collins, Alex Cooper, Dude Perfect, Ken Griffey Jr., Blake Griffin, Erling Haaland, Johnny Harris, Morgan Jay, Jesser, Ryan Kalil, Trevor Noah, Kareem Rahma, and Dwyane Wade.

Even Creators Need Help Sometimes

Using AI as the primary means for creating content is a quick way to alienate followers and viewers, but that doesn’t mean creators can’t lean on the technology for help along the way.

The dashboard for creators on Facebook now includes Creator Assistant, which lends a virtual hand in helping them better understand their audience, as well as trends in the engagement with and performance of their content.

Creator Assistant’s conversational interface lets creators easily ask follow-up questions and learn which content performed well, why it did so, and what they can try doing differently.

Or, when ideas are hard to come by, the tool can suggest new ideas or approaches by analyzing trending audio, cultural moments, and top-performing content and styles on Facebook.

Cameo Appearances for TikTok Creators

Successful creators develop content for multiple platforms and tailor that content to meet the requirements and user expectations of each one. While videos for TikTok are geared toward a mass audience, Cameo videos are customized and personalized for a single recipient.

The two companies teamed up on a way for creators on TikTok to promote their efforts on Cameo.

TikTok creators can now offer personalized Cameo videos directly to their followers, adding customized call-to-action buttons to their content on TikTok and letting followers request Cameo videos from them without leaving the app.

The partnership marks yet another way for creators to monetize their presence on TikTok.

Subscribe in a Snap

Continuing the theme of platforms giving creators more ways to monetize, Snapchat began testing Creator Subscriptions, whereby fans will pay a monthly fee, determined by the creator, to access premium features such as subscriber-only Snaps and Stories, priority replies to public Stories, and an ad-free experience within Stories.

Benefits to creators, aside from recurring revenue, include a surface where they can experiment with content, direct engagement with their most loyal followers, and more control over how they show up for their community on the platform.

GO, GO, GO!

TikTok users in the U.S. who are on the go can visit new feature TikTok GO, which helps them discover and reserve local attractions, hotels, tours, and other services directly via the app.

Content is surfaced via location pages, search, and videos, and users can see more details, check availability, and book, with partners including Booking.com, Expedia, GetYourGuide, Tiqets, Trip.com, and Viator.

Local businesses gain a new way to reach potential customers who are already doing research about their area, while creators can use their storytelling skills to feature those local businesses in content and earn commissions for bookings through their posts.

Don’t Forget B2B

Creator marketing has become a force in the business-to-business world, with LinkedIn representing the primary platform.

The professional network introduced Premium Creator Sponsorships With Top Voices 360, under which brands start out with an exclusive editorial show with a top creator, supported by BrandLink ads, with the chance to extend the partnership to co-branded posts, appearances at industry events, and other initiatives.

Established creators in the mix include Steven Bartlett, Cat Goetze, Bernard Marr, and Candace Nelson, joined by newer faces such as Corporate Natalie, Meghana Dhar, Ramit Sethi, and Aishwarya Srinivasan.

On the Fast Track

For creators, getting started on a new platform can seem like a daunting task, even if that platform is new to them but long established in the sector.

Recognizing this, Facebook introduced Creator Fast Track, which helps creators get their feet wet through means such as increased reach on eligible Reels to spark follower growth, as well as three months of guaranteed pay: $1,000 per month for those with at least 100,000 followers on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube, jumping to $3,000 for those topping 1 million on any of those platforms.

Creators also gain immediate access to the Facebook Content Monetization program so that they can continue to bring in revenue once their time with Creator Fast Track comes to an end.
