Influencer Q&A: Kimberly Genevieve @Kimgenevieve

People always tell you to "follow your dream." Canada-native Kimberly Genevieve did exactly that. We chatted with Kimberly as she shared her story about following her dream to Los Angeles. Instagram became her outlet for her passion of photography, which in turn made @kimgenevieve a social media influencer. Take a look below to learn more about the colorful Kimberly Genevieve!

1. Tell Us A Little Bit About Yourself. How Was It Moving From Ottawa, Canada Down To Los Angeles?   Moving from Ottawa, Canada to Los Angeles has been the most exciting and brave decision I've ever made. I had a very secure job working for the government of Canada at Canada Post. I had a pension and great health care, but my heart just wasn't in it. I knew I was supposed to pursue a much more creative lifestyle and delivering mail door-to-door simply wasn't going to cut it. My boyfriend Andre (now fiancé) and I saved as much money as we could and packed up our '94 Dodge Spirit to road-trip across the United States not knowing what was ahead. We knew LA was going to be an adventure, but we had no idea how much it would change our lives for the better!

2. How Has Your Profile And Content Strategy Developed Over Time?

I joined the Instagram community a little over 4 years ago shortly after the app was released. It probably took me around 6 months to start really developing a personal style and esthetic. I've always loved colorful and bright imagery, and I think Instagram really helped me develop my personal style.

3. When Was The First Time You Realized That You Were "Onto Something" And How Has Your Life Changed Since You Became A Social Media Influencer?

I don't think I ever realized I was on to something, to be honest. Instagram was and still is a way for me to express myself creatively. I have always loved documenting my life, and Instagram gave me that opportunity. Through my life's documentation, I discovered my passion for color and style. It probably wasn't until Buzzfeed.com featured my account as someone "to follow on Instagram" that I realized I might be doing something right. I think their feature really put my name out there, and I am so thankful for that!

4. As A Photographer, Where Do You Derive The Inspiration For Your Pictures?

The sunshine, palm trees, and the ocean definitely inspires me the most. I think it's because I used to dream of one day living in California and now that California is right in front of me, I get to live my dream and inspiration every single day.

5. What Are Some Of Your Favorite Accounts To Follow?

These are some of my favorite Instagram accounts to follow: @cupofcouple @lauraaustin @pyperamerica @framboisejam

6. In Your Opinion, What Makes A “Perfect” Instagram Picture?

What's perfect for me might not be perfect for everyone else, but in my opinion, a great photo has to be sharp, clean, and tell some kind of story. In the end, not every photo is going to be perfect, but as long as you are personally connected with your image, that's all that really matters

7. What Is Your Favorite Part About Working With InstaBrand?

What's so great about InstaBrand and the companies they work with, is that everyone really gives me creative freedom when it comes to creating images for Instagram. They trust me and allow me to be myself when it comes to collaborating with big brands. I feel lucky I've been able to work with such a great agency!
